Testimony

“Cara Beckett worked on set as our makeup artist for the short film “Valedictory”. She did a very good job of making wounds and scar makeup on some of the actors, including burn wounds, old and fresh stab wounds, bruises and small cuts. She also did a great job of keeping continuity between scenes. It wasn’t an easy task, as during the 6 days of the shoot our characters were involved in indoors and outdoors fights, and production would jump between scenes quite regularly. Overall, her makeup work was very impressive and reliable, better than we could have asked for. Cara was also extremely professional and reliable, she stayed patient during long hours of filming days in a cold environment and was very friendly and outgoing with the crew and cast.”

-Nicolas Potus, Lead Producer for “Valedictory”

“Cara worked as a special effects artist on our production “Freak Show” for Outbreak @ M&Ds. Cara is a true creative, not only were her looks on brief, flawless, and highly original but her speed and time management throughout the run were outstanding. She works well under pressure and constantly tries to better her work. Cara was a pleasure to work with and would be a credit to any team.”

Biography

After growing up with a deep obsession with make-up, costume, movies, and theatre, I left school to pursue a HND in Make-up Artistry at South Lanarkshire College, near my hometown of Glasgow, where I graduated with top marks in 2020. Following this I moved to England for further study where I acheived a BA First Class Honours in Special Effects Make-up Artistry in Manchester before progressing to Birmingham for my MA.

After completing my Master of Arts Degree (with Distinction) in Prosthetics for Film and Television and my First Class Hounours Degree in Special Effects Make-Up Artistry, I want to utilise my knowledge within the industry.

Recently I have been advancing my knowledge and abilities in digital modelling, using ZBrush and 3D printing moulds, and concentrated my final dissertation project in university on digitally designed prosthetics. Despite having completed my studies, I am continuing to learn and grow my technical skills.

I am currently seeking roles to build on my experience in mould making, digital scanning, ZBrush and 3D printing, and casting for special effects, props and applied prosthetics for film and television.
